Jorge, no, it doesn’t apply to the 72 hour free transit rule.

Hi, can you tell me why it doesn't apply? I'm flying from a 3rd Region (HK) to Beijing, stay 2 days and then back to 3rd Region (HK)

Usually, if one wants to use the 72 hour free transit in Beijing, the travel route should be country/region A-Beijing-country/region B. However, according to what you said, you will travel like HK-Beijing-HK. You just fly back to the region you were before entering Beijing. It cannot work!
