From Guilin, you can take bullet train to Duyun (about 2 hours), then change to a bus to Kaili (1.5 hours). There are three trains from Kaili to Zhangjiajie, which are K2286 0523/1410, K474 0625/1424 and K1610 2123/0539+1. Taking direct bus from Zhangjiajie to Fenghuang is the first choice, if you take train, you will need to go to Jishou first and then change to a bus to Fenghuang. There is no direct train from Zhangjiajie to Guilin, you can take train to Liuzhou, then take train or bus to Guilin. The bus ride takes about 2.5 hours.
