If a husband and his wife are all in China and the husband is using work visa and his wife is

Using student's type, can his wife depend on the his work Z type and the documents required?

Emma, yes, his wife can apply for an dependant S type to enter PRC to visit and stay with him.
The required documents contain her passport and its copy, the application form, a passport-style photo, an invitation letter from him, and copies of his passport and residence permit, and marriage certificate, as well as physical examination report, and recent 4-month bank statement.

The wife is already in China but on student X type, does she has to exit china before applying for the s type?
My question wasn't well answered, pls read it well and get back to me asap, thanks.

Emma, she may be able to convert the student X type to an S1 type at the exit and entry administration of the local public security bureau.
