About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Connecting through TPE.

Hello,

I'm looking to book a flight leavings fri 1:45 into TPE, then TPE into arriving into hong Kong at 9 am. I will be returning on Monday the same route leaving 2pm Hong Kong, TPE, USA. Will the 72 hr visa work?

leaving US to HK connecting through TPE for 3 days. Is connecting through TPE allowed?
