inquiry about Shenzhen 5 day visa

Just found out that someone has applied for 5 day schenzhen entry permit & passport was stamped entry 4th departure 9th so this is obviously worked out on the nights you spend rather than the days! Can anyone confirm this for sure!! Thank you!
