Are rules for 72 hour visa-free travel different if you are a naturalized US citizen born in Taiwan?

Hi -

We want to take advantage of the 72-hour visa-free travel option to see Shanghai Disneyland. Me and the two boys are regular US citizens. But my husband is Taiwanese and was naturalized as a child. I know the rules for getting a regular Visa for travel to China are more complicated for him - they ask for a passport he doesn't have and his birth certificate. Are there any extra requirements for him to use this 72-hour option?
Thanks,
Suzeraine

Suzeraine, if your husband holds US passport, he may just need to provide his passport and the onward ticket to a third country.

Logic would dictate that he would only need his passport and a ticket but logic would also dictate that Taiwan born people wouldn't need extra documents for a regular visa - and yet they do. I am hoping to get confirmation from a Taiwan born citizen of another country that they have had no problems.
