About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying in to Shanghai

I fly in to Shanghai and leave via the port on a cruise the following day. What type of visa will I need?

Jackie, if the countries you arrive from and leave for are different, you can enjoy the 144-hour free transit policy in Shanghai, so that you don't need the transit entry permit for Shanghai.

You need to inform the carrier before you board the plane to PRC and fill the arrival/departure card on the flight. After arrival, you can apply for the 144 hour free transit at the transit counter.
