About:Chinese Clay Figurine Museum

Fly from Canada to Singapore transit Xiamen for less than 5 hrs

I hold a Malaysian passport and will go from Canada to Singapore transit Xiamen for less than 5 hr, (return flight will transit Xiamen for 1.5 hrs.
Must I apply a visa for these flights?

Xiamen airlines fails miserably on international transfer:
Check in staff at YVR issued me boarding pass but at boarding I was told tt I cannot fly and need to retrieve luggage to get a visa.
