Chinese visa for German citizen travelling through Finland

My British boyfriend and I (German citizen) will be travelling through Scandinavia from October-December and intend to enter China in late December. Because it is advised to apply for a Chinese tourist visa no more than 3 months in advance, I wanted to ask if it still possible (as of 2016) to apply for a Chinese visa in Helsinki? How likely is it for the application to be successful if we're technically just travelling through Finland?

Johanna, it’s possible for you to apply for Chinese visa in Helsinki. Don't worry! If you can provide the valid entry record to Finland, you can apply for it from there and you can probably get it in the end. You have at least a chance of 50% to get it.
