Extending Q2 visa

Me and my baby hold a Q2 type (180days), we plan to extend it twice. Our questions are:
-Can we extend it for 180 days more each time?
-How many months left must have in the passport? (Because the baby's passport is valid for 1 year only and the next 180 days Q2 type will pass the passport duration).

1. Braian, I’m afraid you cannot extend it for 180 days more each time. It’s too long.
2. When you extend it for the baby, as long as the baby’s passport has a remaining validity of at least 6 months, there won't be any problem.

Thanks for the fast reply. I couldn't get a visa that will change into residence permit because of the validity of baby's passport. I was told by Chinese Consulate that I could renew it twice in PSB. Any idea what can I do? Me and the baby must stay much longer than these 180 days.
