About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I'm from canada. travelling to hong kong and shanghai. I will be in shanghai on oct 5th,

so it clock starts oct 6th and i leave oct 12th. would i qualify for the 144 hours?

Yes, the 144 hours start from Oct 6th. If you can make sure that after staying in Shanghai, the region or country you will fly to is different from the last one you fly from, you are eligible for the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai.
