Visa to disembark at Sanya from cruise ship

Hello,
I'm taking a Royal Caribbean cruise with a day stop at Sanya. I hold a Canadian passport,
Would I need an entry permit to go ashore?

If you don’t go back to the last country you departed after staying in Sanya for one day, but to a third country or region, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit there. No entry permit is needed then.
