US citizen taking 9-nighJapan cruise. Ship embarks and disembarks in Shanghai. Which Visa is needed?

Hello, I am a US citizen, flying from US to Korea (layover) to Shanghai. Staying 2 nights in a hotel before embarking on cruise ship from Shanghai port to Japan (9-night cruise). Cruise disembarks at Shanghai port and I go straight to airport back to US. Which visa do I need? L, G, or 240 visa? Thank you.

You need to apply for 240h or 24h visa-free transit permit after you land in Shanghai and disembark at Shanghai port respectively. No visa is required.
