About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

do I qualify for the 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai?

I am arriving in Shanghai on Sept 29 on a cruise ship. I plan to visit only Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou. I will be leaving from Shanghai on Oct 4 and flying directly home to Canada. Will I qualify for 144 hour free transit? Someone told me that I wouldn't qualify because on October 4 I'm flying home to Canada and to qualify I would have to be flying to some other country rather than directly home.
Please let me know.

Joel, if the last country from where you enter China is not Canada, you can enjoy the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai.
