Do canadian passport holder need to get Chinese visa to stay in shanghai

Wimal, if the person is on the way to a destination different from the country where he/she departs for Shanghai, and the stay is not more than 6 days, it's possible that he/she can use the 144h free transit policy in Shanghai. If the person is not eligible, an entry permit should be secured in advance.
