About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

inquiry about Visa requirement

Hello I am British visiting China to see my girlfriend and her family. I will arrive in Macao airport and then enter Zhuhai from Gongbei port, spending 5 days in Zhuhai / HK. I intend to book a local tour from Macao tour agencies for sightseeing. I will then be spending 2 days in Macao and then flying from Macao to Beijing and spend 3 days (less than 72 hours) in Beijing, before flying back to UK.

Should I bother applying for a multiple entry permit to make sure I am covered? If so how to I apply for a 2 year multiple entry one (I intend to visit again next year). Thanks.

TH, you don’t need to apply for a multiple-entry 2-year tourist L type because you can get a 3-day VOA in Zhuhai if you just stay for 3 days in Zhuhai.
As for your entry to Beijing, you can enjoy the 72 hour free transit.
In this case, no entry permit is needed for your entries to Zhuhai and Beijing.

You can apply for a 2-year multiple-entry tourist L type when you want to visit PRC next year. You can first prepare the required materials including your passport and copy of its data page, the application form with a recently-taken passport-sized color photo glued, the downloaded and signed declaration, and an invitation letter from your girlfriend. And then hand in your application to the CVASC to apply for it.

Thanks for your response. My main issue is that I will spend about 12 hours on my first leg in Zhuhai (entering from Gongbei port from Macau late at night for hotel, and then travel to HK the next morning). I spend another 30 hours or so in HK and travel to Zhuhai. Then I spend 3 days (less than 72 hours) in Zhuhai before travelling to Macao, finally travelling from Macao to Beijing via air. So I will enter Zhuhai twice and the total hours I will be in Zhuhai will be more than 72 hours. Does it mean I should apply for the VOA twice, or I should apply for the visitor (L) type?

For your first entry to Zhuhai, you can make use of the 24 hour direct transit, so you don’t need to apply for an entry permit.
As for your second entry to Zhuhai, you can apply for a 3-day VOA.
In this case, you just need to apply for the VOA once. Tourist L type is not needed.
