About:Chinese Consulate in New York

Visa for my daughter

My wife is Chinese and we have 11 year old daughter. She has U.S. Passport. She has not had a Chinese entry permit in the past. This will be her first.
We currently live in Shenzhen. Her entry exit permit expires in May. We are unable to get a Chinese visa in Hong Kong.
Do we need to make a interview appointment for her in New York?
If so how do we make appointment?
Or do we just walk in?

Hi, Bernald! Did your wife have a green card by the time your daughter was born? If yes, your daughter need to apply for a visa. If not, your daughter need to apply for a China travel document.
No matter which document you will apply, the appointment is not required.

Chinese travel document is issued to Chinese nationals born abroad who acquire Chinese nationalities at birth in accordance with the Nationality Law of PRC. Although your daughter holds US passport, if you wife didn’t acquire US green card before your daughter was born, your daughter can apply for a Chinese travel documents to travel to PRC.
