I have a Chinese residents permit is it possible for me to take a day trip to Macau without a visa?

I am a Student in China with a residents permit to stay in China is it possible for me to take a day trip to Macau without applying for a VISA or getting a transit visa or a day pass? I will be travelling to Hong Kong in April and I would love to see the casinos in Macao.

John, you cannot use mainland PRC residence permit or student X visa to visit Macau, and you need to apply for another visa to visit there, but you can get it upon arrival.
