Travelling to China, visa application question

My husband and I are visiting China in August on an 18 day guided tour. We would be applying for it by post and we were wondering what the cost would be. Would we have to send documents separately or both in the same envelope, and do we send them recorded delivery to you, also what is the earliest we should apply.
Many thanks
Caroline

Caroline, if you apply by post, it will cost 175 pounds. It usually takes 10 working days.
You can send the documents in the same envelope. You don’t need to send the recorded delivery.
You can apply for it three months earlier before your trip, but you are advised to apply for it one month earlier before your trip because the validity of a tourist L type is three months.
