About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travel regions

Hi! I'm traveling Taipei -> Shanghai -> Hong Kong. Is this okay? The reason I ask is that most people are flying initially from a different major country, whereas Hong Kong and Taiwan are both considered part of China (not by everyone, of course...) Please help me! Embassies are useless now because humans no longer answer phones. Thank you thank you!!

Hi, Elizabeth, you are right, Hong Kong and Taiwan both are considered as part of PRC. However, as different immigration regulations are adopted in mainland and the two regions, they can be regared as the "third regions" when talking about the immigration issues. Therefore, I think your route is ok for 72-hour free transit policy.
