international transit in guangzhou

Question

Hello,will fly from Vancouver to Bangkok by China Southern in a few days. transit in Guangzhou for two and a half-three hours.do I need to pass through passport control, to get my baggage and check in it again on flight from Guangzhou to Bangkok? or should I just to get off the plane in Guangzhou, find proper gate for my flight from Guangzhou to Bangkok and that is it?

If you hold the connecting ticket of Sothern airlines for the trip Vancouver-Guangzhou-Bangkok, they should deal with your luggage directly. You need to go via health & quarantine inspection and security check process etc. There should be airport staff available to guide you during this process.
