About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

eligibility for the 144-hour free transit

I have a friend who is a canadian passport holder. She will be travelling from vancouver to manila philippines and then will travel to beijing for a group tour and then back to Philippines again and then go back home to canada. Is she eligible to travel without applying for a china visa and just use the 144-hour free transit? What would be the procedure? Thanks a lot!

Malou, so she will travel from the Philippines to Shanghai and then back to the Philippines? This route does not apply for 144-hour free transit. If she wants to use it, she should travel from Philippines to Shanghai and then directly back to Canada.

Thanks for the reply. What is the possibility of getting his entry permit in the philippines for the tour? How long will it take for her if she will get it in canada? Are you accepting online application? She'll be leaving canada on the 9th or 10th of march.

It's possible to get it from the Philippines. It both takes four working days to process either apply in Canada or the Philippines. Online application is not accepted.

The 72 hour free transit is not applicable to her situation, either.
