About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Train instead of flight to Hong Kong

Hello,
I will fly into Shanghai and take a train out to Hong Kong 5 days later, instead of a flight.
Is the arrangement valid also for trains without a problem?
Question 2: in case the train to Hong Kong is full, and I would need to take a train to Shenzhen and take the subway to Hong Kong from there, will this work too?
Many thanks,
Heidi

(1) Heidi, you can use the 144 hour free transit even though you fly into and leave by train.
(2) According to the case you mentioned above, you will stop in Shenzhen, if so, I’m afraid it doesn’t work anymore.
