Can I use the 72 hour visa in china?

I am travelling from UK to Guangzhou, i plan on taking a flight from Guangzhou to either Thailand or the Philippines within 72 of arriving in Guangzhou. staying for 2 weeks and then fly back to Guangzhou and get a flight back to Uk within the 72hours . Am i able to transit through guangzhou twice? or at all without applying for a tourist type?
