About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

72 hour visa free question

I am a US citizen who will be flying from Taiwan (where I do not need an entry permit) to Beijing (where I want to stay for 24 hours), then flying to Japan (where I also do not need a an entry permit.) Does the 72 hour free transit policy apply to the Beijing part of my trip, even though I am flying there from Taiwan?

Hi Travis, the 72-hour free transit policy applies to you. Actually, if your layover in Beijing is shorter than 24 hours, the 24-hour direct transfer policy is enough for you.
