About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Layovers in Kunming and Shanghai

Hello,

I have a round trip to Bangkok, Thailand from South Korea from December 25-30 with an 11 hour layover in Kunming, and would like to spend the night at my Friends house instead of sleeping in the Airport and then on my way back I have another 11 hour in Shanghai and I would like to just sight-see for a view hours. How do I go about getting free 72 hour transits twice in the time span of a week? Is this acceptable? (I have US passport.)

Kayla, don’t worry, in fact, both of your layover time are less than 24 hours, you can enjoy 24 hour direct transit. In this way, you don't need to apply for 72 hour free transit. When passing through the immigration counter, you will get a stamp on your passport.
If you want to leave the airport, you just need to apply for temporary stay permit at the airport.
By the way, you can have two 72-hour free transit entries in a week. It's allowed.
