Question about transit in Shanghai

Hello. I am from the US and arriving to Shanghai Pudong for an 11 hour day layover to Japan. I am leaving from Shanghai Hangqiao airport to go to Japan after the 11 hours. I understand that they are different airports, but can I still go into the city center since I have an onward ticket and are there less then 72 hours? Thanks

Hi, Darya, you can sue the 24 hour direct transit because you just stop for 11 hours. In Shanghai, you are allowed to land in one airport and depart from the other. If you want to go to the city center, you need to apply for a temporary stay permit at the airport.
