free transit question - ORD-PEK-ORD

I have a flight from ORD-PEK-ORD with a 14 hour layover in Beijing. If I do not leave the airport, do I need a Visa and do I qualify for the 24 hour free entry since I am returning to ORD and not going on to another country or third region.

My concern is the agents not letting me board in ORD without an entry permit.

Thanks--
Tiffany

Tiffany, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit even though you fly back to the departure country. And you cannot leave the restricted zone inside the airport. But if you are not allowed to board the plane, you need to apply for an entry permit.
