I will be traveling from Canada to Shanghai for less than 72 hours. I would return to Canada via HK

I would like to fly from Toronto Canada to Shanghai. I would stay in Shanghai for a meeting for less than 72 hours. I go to HK from Shanghai. I would be in HK for part of a day before heading back to Toronto. Can I benefit from the 72 hour visa free transit?
