what type of gift is appropriate?

For Chinese business men visiting American office meeting. Should there be a gift?

Janice, if foreign companies come to China for business, their Chinese partners usually prepare some gifts. I don't know if this tradition is also observed by American companies. If your company doesn't have this tradition, you needn't prepare the gifts.

However, it's ok that you send them some gifts to "enhance" your cooperation. You might try to understand what they like and then prepare the gifts based on their interests. This is how Chinese people send gifts.
