About:China Transit Visa

Hello, I have a question on the 72 hour visa to Beijing.

I am British but live in France.
I am going to Australia & on the way back am having a 3 day stopover/ transit in Beijing.
I will arrive in Beijing at 05.30am on 10/12/2015 & my departure flight is on Sunday 13/12/2015 at 13.30, so hour for hour i will be 8 hours over the 72 hour limit; but on the Travelinsidechina site it says that the start hour is counted from midnight AFTER you arrive in Beijing. If that is so i will be inside the 72 hour limit so won't need an entry permit. Please can you advise me which is the correct solution?

Have a great day,
Rgds janet

Jan, as far as I know, the 72-hour limit starts from midnight after you arrive in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Xian, and other cities that have implemented the 72-hour free transit policy. However, in Beijing, this period is counted from the time you have done all necessary formalities at the airport. Therefore, I think it would be risky if you enter without an entry permit.
