Is China visa requirement for Shanghai-Japan cruise for 4 nights if we're coming from Philippine?

Hello. I am a US citizen and hubby is a US green card holder. We will visit Philippines then take plane to CN for Shanghai - Japan cruise for 4 nights then back to Philippines. Does my hubby and I need one for this cruise trip? Thank you

Hello, kuh, if you and your hubby stay in Shanghai for no more than 24 hours, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit and you don’t need one for the trip, while if you stay for more than 24 hours, you need to apply for a transit permit in advance. Happy journey!
