About:China Tourist Visa

Tourist/Student

I am considering coming to China as BOTH tourist and student. But not with an accredited school, rather with a one-on-one tutor. I would probably want to rent an apartment in Foshan or Guangzhou (but I would be learning 普通话, not Cantonese). So would that still be an 'L' visa?

Wes, as you will be learning from a tutor rather than an accredited school, your only choice is to apply for the L type. Ask your tutor to write you an invitation letter and use it to apply for the L type, so that you don't need to provide hotel reservations or round-trip tickets.
