About:How to Apply for a China Visa

I want to reapply for entry permit visa to China. If I apply, will they issue me?

I was wrongly detained for soliciting and was asked to stay away from China for 5yrs and the 5yrs has expired now.

David, you can apply now. But it still unsure whether your application will be granted or not. The consular officers might turn down application because of your previous record.

But, after 5yrs isn't the record supposed to have clear off or deleted? And when I am reapplying, on the application form should I indicate any previous offence since I was told very clearly that after 5yrs I can apply to reenter PRC? If peradventure they then turn down the application, can reapply again and will they issue it? Thanks.

David, the chance for you to get it it half to half. So I think it's worth a try. You can indicate your previous offence on the application form. Even if you do not indicate it, the officer may have a way to find it out. In case that they turn down your application, you can reapply after three months.
