i have a student visa in china.

I'm currently student in Shenyang but i'm applying for a job in Shenzhen and i need to change my X type to a Z type. Do i have to go back to my country before applying?

Gef, you can get a work permit from the employer first. And then go to the Exit and Entry Administration in Shenyang and see if you can change your X type to Z type at the office. If you can, you can get a Z type and then renew your residence permit. If the officer refuses to do this, you need to go back and apply for a Z type outside PRC.
