About:Lingshan Buddhist Scenic Spot

If my trip itinerary changes...

I need a flexible arrival/departure date. Can I apply for visa with ESTIMATED arrival/departure date, or it MUST be precise? If this is permitted, may I leave blank the section about proof of accommodation, since I would not have a receipt to show exact arrival date?

I'm only transiting in China, and would like to write a 'transit' type application, and explain that I have no intention to stay longer than 24 hours, but it COULD happen unexpectedly. In such a case, could I then provide proof of accommodation in person once I arrive, or how would you suggest the best way to fill in my application?

DG, if you transit less than 24 hours, you are not required to apply any entry permit in advance because you enjoy 24 hours free transit. At some airports like Beijing, Guangzhou, Xian and Chengdu, you even enjoy 72 hours free transit. So there is no need for you to apply one in advance.

Thanks for your reply.
The problem is, I am traveling by ferry, not airplane, so I cannot have access to 72-hour free transit. I'm afraid if I am delayed, I will overstay my free 24 hours.

Well, don't worry, as you are eligible for the 24-hour direct transit policy, you don't need to apply for the entry permit in advance. In case you are delayed, you can go to the local exit and administration bureau to apply for an entry permit.

Oh, that sounds great! Where would I need to go to obtain that? I will be near the port of Shanghai so I'm not sure it's very near? Also, when I board my ferry (in Japan), will they let me on with just a passport? If not, what paperwork must I show them instead of a visa?

DG, you can obtain it when passing through the immigration. When boarding the ferry, you need to take the cruise ship ticket and your passport. I think you had better double check this with the cruise company.

It is just a ferry, not a cruise, but I'm sure the same rules apply. Thanks for your help!
