About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can you get a 72 hour visa if the 3rd region is a transfer flight?

i.e flying into China from the UK directly, staying for a business meeting flying back to the UK via Amsterdam. Will only be in Amsterdam a few hours.

Yes, it's OK, you can still get the free transit service.
