1 night connection flight from Beijing to Hong Kong

Hello, we will arrive at Beijing (PEK) February 2nd, 2016 our arrival time is at 17:55. And we leave Beijing the next day at 8:00am. What can we visit in that amount of time? Is it possible to visit the Great Wall? or Ther Forbidden City?. Secondly, does anyone know if we need a visa to stay in Hong Kong for 5 days. We are looking forward to your answers or suggestions. Thank You.

I forgot to ask this question, I was reading that it is nearly impossible to get train tickets during Spring Festival in China. We are planning to travel from Hong Kong to Shanghai after Chinese New Year on February 10th. My question is, after that day, is it still hard to get train tickets?. We cannot buy them in advance, because we dont have a chinese address. If we try to buy them once we are there, are we risking ourselves in not being able to get train tickets and getting stuck in Hong Kong?

1. For your limited time, I suggest you roam around Tiananmen Square (Forbidden City is nearby and you can see it from outside.) and Beijing's most famous pedestrian street - Wangfujing Street. Then go and check in the hourly lounge or a hotel near PEK to wait for your early flight. Your timing is not proper to visit Great Wall and Forbidden City. Just forget about them.
2. So you are Guatemala passport holder? Well, you are actually exempt from visa for 30 days in Hk, so 5 days stay visa-free is ok.
3. Yes, it is still very hard to get train tickets on the spot on Feb. 10. It is highly recommended to book the tickets in advance. If booking through an agency, it doesn't matter that you have no Chinese address. They can deliver the tickets to your hotel (if you will stay in any) or you can just go to the train station to collect the ticket by showing your passport.
Hope help!

Thank you so much for your quick response Felicia, your answer helped me a lot. I do have another question I hope you can help me, if I buy the tickets in advance ,do I just quickly pick them up at the train station and head to the train? or Do i still have to wait in line with those huge crowds to get my ticket? also Is it safe to purchase these tickets on a website? Which website would you recommend?

Thank you!

Glad to "meet" you, Carolina. If you book the tickets in advance, you can pick it up at the station through a dedicated ticket window which handles tickets booked online. At this point, you may get your ticket sooner instead of lining up long. But too many people will be at the station, so the actual situation may not be such optimistic. Haha~~

Personally, it is safe to book tickets online and I use Travel China Guide a lot, the website you are visiting. They provides prompt and considerate service. If needed, their contact is bookingtravelchinaguide.com.

Felicia

It is difficult to buy train tickets during the Spring Festival if you don't book them in advance. So if you get there and buy the tickets ,I think it's impossible.
