Question

Family of five, experienced travelers, wanting by rail from Beijing to Shanghai and then later Shanghai to Xian in early January, 2016. Told tickets only sold 60 days or less before departures and difficult to guarantee. Told difficult due to Feb. Spring Festival. Anyone with experience or comments?

The peak time for the Spring Festival would be start after mid January. Early January can be a little better but still under the influence of the winter holiday. During these time, the ticket would need to book in advance and even through it is still hard. Maybe you can make some back up chocie in advance as well for a bigger chance.
