Shanghai Transit Visa Question

We are travelling Sydney - Hong Kong - Shanghai - Sydney. Is Hong Kong considered as a third country therefore allowing us to use the 72 hour transit in Shanghai? TIA

Yes, Hong Kong is considered as a third region here, so you are allowed to use the 72-hour free transit.
