About:China Customs Declaration

Declaring salary over 20 000 RMB cash

I was working in china for two years and i want to take my savings with me. It will be more than 20 000 RMB
- When i declare this, Do i need any papers and if yes then what kind?
- In what composition can i take this money? can it all be RMB or only 20 000 and the rest must be USD or EUR?

I think you shouldn't bring more than 20000 RMB in cash to avoid any trouble at the customs. If you take too much, the officers might think you smuggle money, then your money might be confiscated. If they think you just break the law, you need to pay 5 to 20 percent fine.

The safest way is to carry around 20000 RMB and then make the rest of your money into a cheque. After getting back to your country, you can change your cheque into cash.
