Physically Carrying Cash (USD)

Hello!
I have been saving my RMB salary for months, and am now trying to move it back to the US.
Can I physically carry less than 5,000USD on my person when leaving China, without declaring it? I can just keep it in my moneybelt, and pass through customs no problem?

My family member will visit me on a legal visa. Can I give her USD cash to carry as well out of China?

Please let me know your thoughts!

According to the rules, each visitor is allowed to take cash of the value less than USD5,000 without a declaration. Your family members can help but make sure the amount carried by each person doesn't exceed the limit.
