About:Taiyuan Transportation

Beijing, Taiyuan, Datong

We (4 of the ladies) intend to visit TY and Datong from Beijing International Airport in November. As this is the first time to visit the 3 places, I need some advise to have an enjoyable holiday:-

1) Reach Beijing airport in the afternoon , how to reach TY in the fastest and easiest way?
2)Recommendation of hotel ( budget or 3 star hotel). Would prefer the area which can easily access to the
tourist spot and food street /Supermarket/shops( as we are vegetarian).
3)Beside Jinci Temple, Twin Pagoda Temple and Mengshan Mountain, is any other places that it is
a must to visit in TY.
4) Is TY tourist spot location is easily access by their Public transport or do we need to travel by taxi or
join the hotel local tour?
5)And how many days is necessarily to stay at TY?
6)How to travel from TY to Datong? and recommend a good budget or 3 star hotel near the city central for easy travelling to the famous tourist spot. . We dont mind staying near the Railway station.
7)Can we visit the Hanging Temple, Wooden Pogada and Yungang Grottoes using the Public transport or it
is better to hire a private car or join a local tour. Which is more economical?
8)Interest to stay 2 days in Mount Wutai , whether joining a local tour is the best option and do they have
the service in the hotel?
9) Is 4 days enough for Datong including the Mount Wutai Stay.
10)Any recommendation of 3 star hotel in Beijing( near to metro).

Thanks.

1. Upon arrival, take the shuttle bus line 7 to West Railway Station, where you can take the bullet trains to Taiyuan, the travel time is about 3 hours.

2. As for accommodation, I suggest you stay in Tongluowan area in the city, where you can have easy access to restaurants, hotels and commercial streets.
XIshan Hotel, located at No. 78 Liuxiang Street.
Heyi Hotel, located at No. 87 Fudong Street.
Lakeview Puding Hotel, located at NO. 4 Haizi Bianxi Street.
Green Hotel, located at No. 17 Qiaotou Street.

3. Besides that, Chongshan Monastery is also worth visiting.
4. Most the spots can be reached by public transportation, but the bus has no English signs, and you may need transfer, which may cause you some problems. If the site cn be reached directly from hotel, bus will be fine. Otherwise, you can travel by taxi.
5. To cover most famous attractions in that city, you need 2 – 3 days.
6. From TY railway station, there are trains to Datong, and the travel time is about 4-5 hours. Near Datong railway station, there are a number of hotels in different standards, such as Datong Today Business Hotel, Hongqi Hotel, Meihao Holiday Hotel and JINHE Kailong Hotel.

7. You can hardly have easy access to direct public transport to these scenic spots. Well, hiring a private car would be nice to you. The fare s about CNY500 per day.
8. For tour in Wutai, there are many two-day Wutai Mountain tour package. I suggest you join a local tour. Some big hotels may cooperate with tour agencies, so they can help you with the booking.
9. Fours days are a little bit tight but enough enough for sightseeing in Datong plus Mt. Wutai.
10. Since you will take a bullet train to TY, so I suggest you live near the Beijing West Railway Station. There you can also have the subway line 9 and line 7.
Jingtie Hotel, located at No. 13 of Guanglian Road.
Hauxia Mingzhu Hotel, located at No, 120-1 East Lianhuachi Road.
Kairui Hotel, located at No. 16
