i am female horse, 1942, engaged to male rooster, 1957 we are so much alike, will it work?

We have so much in common, I'm older, but he's mature, and we give so much to each other.  He is an old soul, me, young spirit.  We support each other fully. But everything I read says we will have a difficult time.  The age difference is no problem in any manner to us.  Are we okay in long run?
