About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am an Indonesian citizen transiting via Guangzhou to the US (Los Angeles) with less than 24 hours

I am an Indonesian citizen transiting via Guangzhou to the US (Los Angeles) with less than 24 hours wait time. Am I able to leave the airport for a city tour? Would you recommend I stay at the airport hotel?
I arrive 3pm, and leave 12pm the next day. Thank you.
