About:Chinese Permanent Residence Permit

Can I get a Permanent Residnce Permit if my marriage has lasted over 5 years, but then divorced?

Hello.

I have been living in china for 7 years now, and got married in that time...I got married to a local girl in Wuhan, and we have been married going on six years now. We had a baby, and he is turning 3 soon. Unfortunately things are not working out and we both decided it would be best to get a divorce in the near future.

We used to live with her parents after when she had the baby, and she does still. I helped her open a shop and she is now the owner, and runes it...her warehouse is close. I moved into an apartment by my the kindergarten were my boy is going to school and I am teaching. I have been teaching at this school for 4 years.I moved here because its too far to travel there in the morning for a small child, and we decided he would live by close to the school with me in the week , and weekends with her and her parents, where she stays to run her business.

Me and the girl are on good terms and both want to be good parents. I am also making preparations to open a business. I would feel a lot more secure though to be here and be a good father / business owner with a permanent residence permit.

So...to sum it up.
I have been married to a local for over 5 years.
2. My work is steady.
3. I have a place to live, at this stage just renting but planning on buying in the future.
4. I will open a business.
5. MOST IMPORTANTLY to me, I have a child who I am a single father to in the week.

Does this qualify to apply for said permit?
(sorry for the lengthy detail :) )

Sorry Barry, as far as I'm concerned, you do not qualify for the permanent residency because you have divorced with your ex-wife. However, you can have a try at the local exit and entry adminsitration. In addition, if your ex-wife and you do not get the divorce paper by so far, it's possible that you may get the permanent residency.
