Can I take bird nest for a gift?

I live in Indonesia and will visit China for business purpose. I am planning to bring bird nest about 2 kg for a gift. Is it okay to bring it or do I need special permit for it? What is the consequence if the custom find it? Will it be confiscated and can be taken back when going back to Indonesia or they just dispose of it? Thank you for your response.

Ketje, you'd better not bring bird's nest because it is not allowed to enter. Once you were caught, your bird's nest might be confiscated or destroyed. If you bring too much, you might be fined or even not allowed to enter.
