extending the visa, a question from Zohar Kaplan

My daughter is visiting china now as a tourist and she wants to stay in china till the end of August in order to meet us there and see the big cities with us.
Her entry permit is going to end at the end of this month (June). She was told that she can't extend for 2 month, only for 1.
Can you tell me if it's possible for her to go to Laos or Vietnam for a week, and there to get a new one for 2 month, or stay there till the end of July and then get 1 month visa for china?
Thank you,
Zohar Kaplan

Yes, after the new entry and exit management law was implemented, foreigners can only do the extension once. The duration they acquire should be equal or less than their first duration of stay.

May I know where she is from? People from certain countries can easily apply for Chinese L types from Thailand. Perhaps, she can go there to try her luck.
