About:Dress Code in China

I am studying abroad this summer. I was wondering what would be acceptable for a girl to wear?

I am going to be studying in Lanzhou during the summer. I know that the summers are not too hot, with temperatures around 20˚C. What is respectable for a college girl to wear around campus and the city?

Are shorts okay or should I focus on skirts? Should I be worried about being too formal? What kinds of shoes are okay? I will already be pretty tall compared to the population, so are shorter heels still okay?

Gabby, shorts and skirts are both ok. However, they shouldn't be too short. Well, some Chinese people really don't like tall people. Before you get familar with your classmates, I think you should not wear high heels because short people love high heels. But shorter heels are ok.
