Chinese tourist visa for Australian Passport Holder

I am currently in Hanoi with a tour booked in China from 5th - 27th August. I have just found out I cannot apply for an entry permit here as they only issue visas where you must enter China within one month of application date. I will be in Ulaanbaator from 9th - 31st July and am hoping I can apply there? Do you know what the requirements are and whether I can get one same day?

Lauren, you can apply from Ulaanbaator. The requirements are basically the same as those for applying from Hanoi. You will need to provide your passport, a photocopy of the passport's data page, a completely filled application form affixed with your recent photo, the original and photocopy of your entry permit for Mongolia, round way tickets, hotel reservations, and tour itinerary. If you use the urgent service, you can get it on the same day.

Thank you so much! The challenge is now whether the office is open Friday 10th July (day before Nadaam starts) as we go on tour for 15 days afterwards and the day we return (Friday 31st) will be our last day before taking the train to Beijing! Do you know of any tour agencies in Ulaanbaatar who would be willing to do the application for us whilst we are on tour in Mongolia?
